Festival of LIghts Parade York, ME

Festival of Lights Parade

Dear Friends,

The Town of York’s Festival of Lights committee will be coordinating the Festival of Lights Parade again this year. “All entries will be judged between 3:30 and 4:00 pm. Categories for this years event will be: Best Children’s Float, Best Antique Car, Most Original, Most Traditional, Best use of Lights, Most Musical and Best Business Float. The Festival of Lights” holiday parade is held to celebrate the season and we would very much like your organization or club to participate in this celebration.

The parade will consist of marching bands, floats, clowns, antique cars, public service organizations, business establishments and much more.

This year, due to safety regulations, we are unable to allow parade participants to distribute candy, whether you are walking or on a float. We will however have many adult elves along the route distributing candy to the spectators. Please read safety guidelines attached in order to avoid disappointment the day of the parade.

The date of this event is Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at 4:30 pm. As this parade is in the evening, we ask all participants to have their cars, floats etc., illuminated in the spirit of the holidays. Enclosed you will find a copy of the parade route, as well as an entry form, and parade safety guidelines for your review (please email below for a packet).

Should you wish to enter, please fill out the attached form, along with a brief description of your entry and return it to the York Parks and Recreation Department.

Many other events, sponsored by the Festival of Lights committee, such as caroling, the lighting of the village square, a Christmas tea at Jefferds Tavern, and the play “A Christmas Carol,” will be a part of this celebration.

We hope to make this parade and evening a special time for the entire community of York. Please join us!

We look forward to receiving your entry and we greatly appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Robin Cogger and

Weekends This Fall at Canobie Lake Park – through October 31

Weekends This Fall at Canobie Lake Park, It’s
Family Fun by Day and Where Fear Meets Fun by Night.

SALEM, NH – The fun doesn’t stop after Labor Day at Canobie Lake Park. Canobie is open each weekend during September and October with a range of fall events that is unrivaled in New England.

You can enjoy your favorite Canobie thrill rides – including the park’s wild roller coaster, Untamed – as well as a variety of family and kids’ rides, games and attractions each day and evening during the park’s weekend operating hours. Beginning September 12, Canobie’s Petting Zoo is also open every Saturday and Sunday from 1PM to 5PM through October 25. Youngsters and their families can interact with a variety of gentle animals, and new for 2015, children can also enjoy pony rides available in the zoo.

Then on September 26th, SCREEEMFEST adds its special brand of fear to all the fun after dark, haunting Canobie Lake Park each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through October 31. Canobie gives you plenty to “screeem” about, too.

There are five terrifying haunted houses open during SCREEEMFEST, with two NEW HAUNTS for 2015: The Canobie Lake Hotel where the original “guests” still wander the halls, and Black Hollow Cove, a lair of a few long-dead pirates. You’ll also find roaming “monsters” and a monster parade throughout the park, Halloween-themed games and much more.

Canobie Lake Park is also known for delivering quality live entertainment at no additional charge, and fall is no exception. Get ready to rock with Canobie’s ROCKtoberfest event that features a different rock tribute band each weekend from September 26 through October 31 on Canobie’s Midway Stage. On tap are professional touring bands performing tributes to the music of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, The Police, AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Foreigner.

As if that wasn’t enough, the “SwingShift SideShow,” also appearing on the park’s Midway Stage, presents strange feats of physical daring that are truly not for the faint of heart. A new live show, “Tribute to Michael: Ghosts,” will thrill audiences over two October weekends and “The Globe” returns to Canobie, featuring extreme motorcycle stunts from October 16 through 18 at the park entrance area.

One low admission price for Canobie’s fall events includes all haunted houses, operating rides, ROCKtoberfest, the petting zoo, all live entertainment and more. For park hours, show schedules, directions, and more information, visit canobie.com.
